Cannabis Coconut Oil
Estimated Preparation Time: 6 hours
Can be used sublingually, as an edible, or in a topical cream.
This recipe is for 1 Ounce (28 grams) and 400 mL of coconut oil.
You Will Need
A crockpot or slow cooker
400 mL of Coconut Oil (available at most health food stores)
1 Ounce of cannabis (28 grams)
Cheesecloth (available at home hardware)
Elastic or string to tie Cheesecloth
Final container for product
Grind up your cannabis into a coarse consistency and wrap/fold in your cheesecloth. Try and get 2 layers of cloth surrounding your cannabis.
Securely tie the cheesecloth with some string (or an elastic).
*This step is optional. Place in the freezer for 30 min, this should help release the trichomes.
Melt your coconut oil in the slow cooker at medium to high heat. Once the coconut oil has melted, put the heat on a low setting. Add your cannabis wrapped in cheesecloth to the oil, making sure that it is fully submerged.
Cook for about 4 hours between 180 degrees and 220 degrees. (You may increase the total cooking time to up to 10 hours. This will maximize the extraction of cannabinoids into your coconut oil).
Let it cool for an hour. (This will help bind the ingredients).
Make sure that your hands are clean, or wear plastic gloves (dishwashing gloves are ok), and wring out the cheesecloth to retrieve the rest of your oil.
Refrigerate for later

Can be used for Tea, Cookies, Brownies, Chocolate and anything else you can think of.
This recipe is for a ¼ Ounce (7 grams) of marijuana,
and a ½ cup of butter (1 stick).
Increase or decrease the amount of butter you use accordingly.
For example a ½ Ounce (14 grams) of marijuana will require 2 sticks of butter (or 1 cup) etc.
You Will Need
¼ Ounce (7 grams) of finely ground marijuana
½ cup of butter (preferably salted), equal to about 1 stick of butter
½ cup of water
1 medium saucepan/pot
Final container to hold product
Place ½ cup of water in saucepan over medium/high heat and bring to a boil.
When water has begun to boil, place 1 stick of butter into the boiling water, and lower the heat to a low/medium setting to simmer.
Once the butter has melted, add your finely ground marijuana and stir, whilst simmering.
Keep the contents simmering for at least 1 hour. Make sure that the contents aren’t at a full boil, and continue to stir throughout the process. The butter should look thick and glossy.
After an hour, strain the contents into a bowl (avoid plastic at this stage) to get rid of the ground marijuana. The active cannabis ingredients have now been fused into the butter, making Cannabutter.
Let the bowl sit for about an hour in the fridge. The water and Cannabutter will separate, and the Cannabutter will float on top. Remove the Cannabutter and transfer into your desired container for storing.
